Bronchitis is an inflammation of the lining in the bronchial tubes. This is the airways that attach the windpipe to the lungs. The respiratory system is covered and secluded by a mucus-producing lining. When a person contacts bronchitis it is often painful and hard for air to pass through in and out of the lungs when breathing. Bronchitis is infectious and can be spread by direct or indirect contact.

In some cases the cough may stay dry and if the airway is blocked the person may feel short of breath. There may also be out of breath after the bouts of coughing and if not correctly treat pneumonia may develop. Another type of bronchitis, irrigative bronchitis, is known to be caused by unlike types of dust, fumes for caustic materials such as strong acids, chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, bromine, tobacco smoke or other smoke, ammonia, sculpture dioxide, various natural solvents and nitrogen dioxide.

Symptoms of Bronchitis: -

• Inflammation of mucus membrane of the bronchi to which phlegm adheres, and a lot of difficulty is experienced by the person in expelling it.
• Difficulty in expelling phlegm, and when expelled, is found to be viscid and may be purulent.
• Successive attacks of cough may turn the patient's appearance to blue look.
• The tendency of this viscid phlegm is to stick to the bronchi, and therefore difficulty is experienced in breathing and the lungs get starved of air.
• Breathlessness, loss of appetite and rise in temperature may ensue in acute stage of bronchitis.
• Patients suffering from bronchitis are normally thin and emaciated.
• A lot of coughing due to bronchitis may turn the face of the patient blue.

Home Remedies for Bronchitis: -

• Mix ½ teaspoon honey with very small amount of black pepper, 1-2 cloves powder, and fresh ginger paste, and give to the bronchitis patient. This is very helpful and gives relief, and cures burning feeling in the chest, open the blocked tube between throat and lungs which further helps in proper breathing.
• Sesame seeds also have properties that can cure bronchitis. Combine a tsp of linseed, a pinch of common salt and a tsp of honey. Have this mixture before sleeping. It would help in the treatment of bronchitis.
• One of the most helpful home remedies for bronchitis is the use of turmeric powder. Half a teaspoon of this powder must be taken daily, mixed with half a glass of milk, two or three times daily. It performs great when taken on an empty stomach. One of the good home remedies for bronchitis.
• Give orange juice containing ½ teaspoon of fresh and crushed almonds to the bronchitis patient at night. This will give relief from bronchitis.
• Castor oil can also act beneficially to cure bronchitis. Warm castor oil leaves on a pan. Let them cool down a bit, place them on the chest and keep overnight.
